Root Canal Treatments

A root canal treatment is a procedure to treat inflamed or dead tooth nerve tissue (pulp) within the root canal of a tooth. This procedure is also known as endodontics. During treatment, the inflamed or dead tissue is removed and the root canal is cleaned and disinfected. The root canal is then sealed with a filling to prevent re-inflammation. In many cases, a crown is then placed on the treated tooth to strengthen and restore it.

Root canal treatment is one way to save a tooth that would otherwise have to be extracted. However, it is a complex and sometimes lengthy procedure that should be performed by an experienced dentist.
